Newsletter No. 3: Autumn Term 2007
Friday 21st September 2007
------------- Children are the future -------------
Curriculum Information for Parents
If your child is in Year 1 – 6 or LSC1, LSC2, SLC2 or ASC2 accompanying this newsletter is an information booklet designed to provide you with an overview of the topics and subject areas your child will be covering during this academic year. We hope that by providing you with this information you will be better able to support your child’s learning. Curriculum information for Nursery, Reception, SLC1 and ASC1 will follow shortly.
Lick Child Poverty Day
Next Friday the 28th September is Child Poverty day. The theme this year is ‘Bring Back Playtime.’ We are supporting the charity Action Aid by having a cake sale in the hall at break time. Please help us bake and donate! The children may also bring their own clothes into school and they can change at playtime for a cost of 50p. Everyone deserves a happy childhood and by taking part in Child Poverty day, you can help support work with millions of children who have to work and have no time to attend school or play with friend.
Balloon Race
Y3/4 Multi-skills Club
On Wednesdays between 3.00-4.00pm there is a multi-skills club running for children in Year 3 and 4. There are a few places left so if you are interested please see Mrs. Gillett or your child’s class teacher for a consent letter.
Welcoming Assembly
We will be holding our annual Welcoming Assembly on Friday 28th of September at 10.00am. Parents of Reception children are invited to come along as Year 6 introduce our newest members to the rest of the school community.
School Council Elections
The election for our new school councillors will be held in school on Thursday 4th October. Candidates from Year 2-6 are currently campaigning to hopefully be voted in as their class representatives. Mrs. Armstrong will be announcing the results in assembly on Monday 8th October.
Sports News
Well done to all those children who took part in our first football fixture of this season against St. Oswalds. Although the match resulted in a loss (The Grange 0 – 4 St. Oswalds) the children kept their heads high and kept fighting until the end! Thanks go to Mrs. Gillett for organising the event and team!
